Teaching Assistant: Behaviour Support - 6 month contract in a Blackburn Primary School

  • January 2017-July 2017 (6 month fixed term contract)
  • 'Good' average sized Primary School
  • Supporting hard to reach pupils within key stage 2

Teaching Personnel are working with an average sized 'Good' Primary School based in the heart of Blackburn and the Headteacher is hoping to secure an enthusiastic, hard-working and reliable Teaching Assistant to start in January 2017 for a 6 month fixed term contract. The headteacher is willing to consider applications from newly qualified and experienced Teaching Assistants.

The role will be full-time, 31.25 hours spread over 5 days, 8:30am to 3:15pm. You will be expected to support the schools more challenging pupils many of which have additional needs such as ADHD, SEMH and other behavioural issues. This will entail working on a 1:1 basis or with small groups as well as offering support to the Teacher in some of the more challenging classes. Teaching Assistant's with experience supporting children of a similar nature and those with a Team Teach Certificate are highly sought after.

The school is a 'Good' Primary school based in the heart of Blackburn and is average in size. It has a very mixed catchment with a lot of the children coming from deprived backgrounds. The pupils eligible for Pupil Premium Funding is higher than average as is the percentage of children with EAL and SEN. The Headteacher is an extremely supportive and inspiring leader and the SENCO will provide guidance and support throughout the contract.
