Teaching Personnel's West Midlands Primary branch are currently recruiting experienced primary School teachers for part time opportunities throughout the summer term. The schools we are closely supporting are based in Coventry and surrounding areas.
Working as a day-to-day cover teacher (also known as a supply teacher or substitute teacher) involves stepping into classrooms, often at short notice, to cover the absence of a regular teacher. Here's a breakdown of the key responsibilities and aspects of the role:
1. Delivering Pre-Prepared Lessons

Teach lessons based on plans left by the absent teacher.

Ensure students stay on track with the curriculum.

Adapt the material as necessary for different learning levels or classroom needs.
2. Classroom Management
-
Maintain order and a positive learning environment.
-
Handle any behavioral issues in accordance with the school’s policies.

Ensure students are engaged and on task.
3. Flexibility and Adaptability
-
Be ready to teach a variety of subjects and year groups, often with little prior notice.

Quickly adapt to different school environments and procedures.
4. Student Support
-
Provide guidance and help to students during lessons.
-
Monitor student progress during the day and support those who may need extra help.
5. Communication and Reporting
-
Leave feedback for the regular teacher about how the lesson went, including student behavior and any completed work.

Communicate with school staff as needed for support or clarification.
6. Professionalism and Presence
-
Represent the school in a professional manner.
-
Follow safeguarding and health and safety protocols rigorously.
-
Be punctual, reliable, and organized.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, is resilient under pressure, and can build rapport quickly with students and staff. These positions are also open to ECT's!! Please apply if you are loooking for work this summer term!
For these positions you MUST have:
- a QTS via Degree with QTS, PGCE or SCITT
- Suitable references showing prior experience teaching and good behaviour management
- flexibility to work in |EYFS KS1 or KS2

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
