1:1 Teaching Assistant

£14.25 per hour | Part-time or Full-time | KS2

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a welcoming primary school in the Shepton Mallet area who are looking for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their growing KS2 class.

This role could be offered on either a part-time or full-time basis, depending on the right candidate, with typical school hours averaging around 6.5 hours per day.

The Role:

You will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, helping them to engage positively with learning and feel supported throughout the school day.

Working as part of the wider classroom team, you will:

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support and encouragement.
  • Help the pupil engage with learning and classroom routines.
  • Support their social and emotional development.
  • Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO, who will provide guidance and support.
  • Help create a calm, inclusive and positive learning environment.

Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or additional needs would be beneficial, but the school is also keen to hear from individuals who have the right attitude, patience and passion for supporting children.

Teaching Personnel Vetting:

To work in schools through Teaching Personnel, you will need to successfully complete our safeguarding and compliance checks, including:

  • Enhanced Child DBS check (or be willing to apply for one).
  • Right to Work in the UK checks.
  • Proof of ID and address.
  • Relevant qualification checks where applicable.
  • Employment references and work history checks.
  • Safeguarding training and required compliance checks.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
