Clerking Jobs with Judicium Education

Ever thought about training as a Clerk to the Board of Governors in a Local School?

Judicium Education is a school services company supporting hundreds of schools in England and Wales with professional support services. Judicium offer in-depth advice to school leaders and governing bodies on the issues that arise in running an effective school including a clerking service that includes attendance (virtual, hybrid and physical where available) at governors’ meetings. Judicium would like to hear from experienced clerks or other professionals with transferable skills who can provide the full range of professional clerking and governance services including:

  • Providing legislative updates that prompt the governing body to take appropriate action where required
  • Collating and distributing agendas and associated documents for governor meetings
  • Ensuring that the governing body is properly constituted
  • Attending governors’ meetings – usually in the late afternoon or evening but also at other times during the day – and creating accurate and relevant minutes
  • Providing effective administrative support to the governing body and its committees
  • Providing procedural, regulatory, and governance advice to governing bodies as and when appropriate


Clerking work is ideal for those seeking flexible yet professional work, often in the evenings, rather than a full time 9-5 role.

Successful applicants will:

  • Be well presented, professional, well-spoken, and literate
  • Be a good timekeeper and understand deadlines
  • Be sociable and able to work with people from various backgrounds and experience
  • Be experienced in school governance OR with transferable skills
  • Either understand the legal/regulatory requirements on governing bodies as per the clerking competency framework, governance handbook & academy trust handbook OR the ability to learn both individually and in a team (online) environment 
  • Have the ability and clarity of thought as well as the presence required to advise a governing body and senior leadership team on governance
  • Good administration skills (word, virtual meeting, etc)
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a team, both internally and externally
  • Wish to learn and expand their knowledge and be part of a team
  • Able to take on a minimum of 50 meetings per year
