Job description

We are working with a welcoming and supportive primary school in the CF24 area that is looking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Year 6 Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with upper Key Stage 2 pupils and is passionate about helping children achieve their full potential during this important stage of their education.

The Role

You will be working within a lovely Year 6 class that has a fantastic group of children who are eager to learn and full of personality. The class can be lively at times, so the school is looking for a confident and proactive Teaching Assistant who can build positive relationships, maintain high expectations and support pupils effectively throughout the school day.

A significant part of the role will involve delivering targeted interventions and working with small groups of pupils to support progress in key areas such as:

  • Reading comprehension
  • Writing and SPaG
  • Maths fluency and reasoning
  • SATs preparation
  • Confidence-building and learning behaviours

You will also support the class teacher with classroom organisation, pupil engagement, assessment activities and general classroom support.

The Ideal Candidate

The school is keen to appoint someone who:

  • Has previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within Key Stage 2
  • Has experience delivering interventions and supporting small group learning
  • Can confidently support pupils working at a range of abilities
  • Is calm, patient and resilient
  • Can build strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Is able to use their initiative and adapt to the needs of the class
  • Has a genuine passion for helping children succeed

Location

The school is based in the CF24 area and benefits from excellent public transport links, making it easily accessible from across Cardiff. While there is no on-site parking available, there is convenient parking within walking distance of the school.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
