Welsh-Speaking Year 6 Teaching Assistant Required
Location: Cardiff
Hours: Full-time (08:30 – 15:30, Monday to Friday)
Pay: £90 – £110 per day, dependent on experience (paid weekly)
Start Date: April
Are you a confident Welsh speaker with a passion for supporting older primary pupils? We are working with a welcoming and forward-thinking primary school in Cardiff seeking a dedicated full-time Welsh-speaking Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 class.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in preparing pupils for their transition to secondary school. You’ll work closely with the class teacher to provide targeted support, reinforce learning, and help pupils build confidence during this important stage of their education.
No formal qualifications are required; however, previous experience working with children—particularly in Key Stage 2—is highly desirable. A positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach are essential.
Your Responsibilities:
- Support the Year 6 teacher in delivering engaging and structured lessons
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support through the Welsh language
- Assist with SATs preparation and literacy/numeracy interventions
- Help pupils develop independence and confidence ahead of secondary school
- Prepare classroom resources and support lesson planning activities
- Promote positive behaviour and maintain a focused learning environment

- Confident Welsh speaker (spoken and written)
- Experience supporting Key Stage 2 pupils (desirable)
- Patient, encouraging, and adaptable approach
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Reliable and committed to a full-time role

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
