Welsh Speaking Primary Teaching Assistant (Additional Learning Needs)

Location: Pontypridd, South Wales
Position: Primary Teaching Assistant (ALN)
Hours: Full-time, Term-time only
Salary: £12.90 an hour

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive school in Pontypridd. In this role, you will work closely with a group of children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), helping them to achieve their full potential both academically and socially. Your role will involve supporting the class teacher, providing one-to-one and small group interventions, and ensuring that each child’s individual needs are met in a caring and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored learning activities for children with ALN.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support, adapting materials and teaching strategies to meet the needs of the children.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment where all children feel supported.
  • Work closely with parents, teachers to ensure each child’s progress and well-being.
  • Help with the social and emotional development of the children, offering encouragement and promoting confidence.
  • Monitor and report on children’s progress to the teacher and SENCo.
  • Ensure the child’s needs are met in line with their individual education plan (IEP).

What We Are Looking For:

  • Experience working with children with Additional Learning Needs, preferably in a primary school setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative when required.
  • Understanding of child development and inclusive teaching practices.
  • An interest or ability to communicate through Welsh is highly desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
