Vulnerable Learner Support Role

- Pay from £12.90/hr.

A partner secondary school in Barry is looking for a new member of staff to join their ALN Team on a full-time basis.
There is a need for a supportive and nurturing Teaching Assistant to work with the school’s vulnerable learners, pupils with Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, and those who have experienced trauma. The young people that you will be working with struggle with school attendance and engagement with mainstream learning, therefore a patient and understanding approach is essential, as well as an ability to adapt lessons to the pupils’ individual needs and interests to encourage their learning.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Supporting pupils with a range of social, emotional, and mental health challenges, as well as those who have experienced trauma.
- Working in small group settings and on a 1:1 basis and developing positive relationships with the pupils you support, assisting them in accessing the curriculum in the best way for them.
- Offering emotional and behavioural support using a range of classroom-based and outdoor learning techniques.

What we need from you:
- Enhanced DBS check and registration with the EWC
- Minimum 3 months experience working with children in any setting (desirable)
- Professional and/or academic references

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
