SEN Teaching Assistant – MLD/SLD Support – Southend-on-Sea Full-time - Flexible start date!

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Moderate or Severe Learning Difficulties? About the Role

You will work as part of a supportive team to help pupils with MLD and SLD thrive in a structured, inclusive environment. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual learning needs
  • Assisting pupils with daily living skills, communication, and social interaction
  • Adapting lessons and learning activities to suit different abilities
  • Supporting pupils to manage behaviour, emotions, and sensory needs
  • Building positive, trusting relationships to encourage confidence and independence

This is a hands-on role where your care experience or early years expertise will have an immediate impact.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome candidates from care, early years, or similar backgrounds who are ready to make a difference in SEN. You should be:

  • Experienced or eager to work with pupils with MLD and SLD
  • Patient, adaptable, and resilient
  • Able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a team
  • Committed to supporting the learning, wellbeing, and independence of young people
  • Available full-time, 8:00am–4:00pm

No formal SEN experience is required — your care or early years experience is highly valued and transferable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
