Are you an experienced teacher or tutor looking to make a meaningful difference to learners of all ages?

TP Tutors, part of Teaching Personnel, is seeking dedicated 1:1 Tutors to provide personalised tuition to children, young people, and adult learners across Peterborough.

We are looking for tutors with experience teaching Primary, Secondary, GCSE, Functional Skills, and SEND learners. Tuition takes place in learners' homes, schools, community settings, or alternative provisions during school hours, with some assignments available outside of these hours depending on learner needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver tailored 1:1 support that helps learners build confidence, overcome barriers to learning, develop key skills, and achieve their educational goals.

Pay

Competitive pay, depending on experience, qualifications, the learner's needs, and the tuition assignment.

Working Pattern

  • Flexible part-time and full-time opportunities
  • Most tuition delivered during school hours (Monday to Friday)
  • Long-term and ongoing tuition assignments available
  • Travel to learners' homes, schools, community venues, and alternative provisions across Peterborough is required

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and personalised 1:1 tuition tailored to each learner's individual needs.
  • Teach learners across a range of age groups and abilities, including primary, secondary, post-16, and adult learners.
  • Plan and deliver lessons appropriate to each learner's curriculum, qualification, or learning level.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs, including SEND where appropriate.
  • Monitor learner progress and complete session reports after each lesson.
  • Build positive relationships with learners, families, schools, local authorities, and partner organisations.
  • Encourage learners to develop confidence, independence, and a positive attitude towards learning.

Must-Have Requirements

  • A minimum of two years' UK teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience teaching one or more of the following: Primary, Secondary, GCSE, Functional Skills, or SEND.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum.
  • Excellent communication, behaviour management, and relationship-building skills.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to travel reliably between tuition locations.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or another recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience supporting learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, dyslexia, and speech and language needs.
  • Experience delivering tuition in homes, schools, colleges, community settings, or alternative provisions.
  • Knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

This role covers Peterborough. Applicants should be willing to travel to tuition locations across the local area.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
