Job Title: 1:1 Tutor (Home & School-Based)

Location: Peterborough and surrounding areas
Job Type: Part-time / Flexible (School hours, term-time)
Salary: Competitive hourly rate (based on experience)


Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated 1:1 Tutor to support pupils across home and school-based settings in Peterborough and surrounding areas.

This role involves delivering tailored, individualised tuition to children and young people who require additional academic support during school hours. The aim is to help learners re-engage with education, build confidence, and make progress in core subjects, particularly English and Maths.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 tuition in pupils’ homes or school environments
  • Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs
  • Support core subjects, primarily English and Maths
  • Track pupil progress and provide feedback where required
  • Create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment
  • Follow safeguarding procedures at all times

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years teaching or tutoring experience (school-based, tuition, or equivalent education setting)
  • Strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum
  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Ability to travel locally within Peterborough and surrounding areas

Desirable

  • Experience supporting SEN or SEMH learners
  • QTS, PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification (not essential)
  • Experience delivering 1:1 or small-group tuition

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
