Job description

SEN Tutor – Leicester Area

Location: Leicester and surrounding areas
Hours: School hours (typically 9:00am – 3:30pm)
Contract Type: Flexible, Part-Time and Full-Time Opportunities Available

About the Role

We are seeking compassionate, experienced, and dedicated SEN Tutors to provide high-quality one-to-one educational support to pupils across Leicester and the surrounding areas.

You will work with children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Dyslexia, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Tuition may take place in pupils' homes, schools, community settings, or alternative provisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalised 1:1 tuition tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and learning programmes.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to suit different learning styles and abilities.
  • Support pupils with academic progress, communication skills, independence, and confidence.
  • Foster positive and trusting relationships with pupils and families.
  • Monitor progress and maintain accurate records of learning outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, parents/carers, and other professionals.
  • Ensure safeguarding and wellbeing remain a priority at all times.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years' teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
  • Strong understanding of differentiated teaching and inclusive learning strategies.
  • Excellent communication, behaviour management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with vulnerable learners.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Access to reliable transport and willingness to travel within Leicester and surrounding areas.

Desirable Qualifications

  • SEN qualifications or specialist training.
  • Experience delivering alternative provision or intervention programmes.
  • Knowledge of EHCPs and SEND support frameworks.
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language needs, or SEMH challenges.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
