Trainee Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a Trainee Teaching Assistant position in the Treorchy area for a full-time long-term position starting in September. We are working in partnership with a Secondary School who are looking to take on an additional member of staff to support students with Additional Learning Needs. Successful applicants will be put forward for trial days at the school before the end of the academic year (July 22nd)

Trainee Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS Certificate available on the Update Service
  • Registered with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
  • Minimum 5 GCSEs in core subjects
  • No direct educational experience required
  • Passion for education and supporting others
  • Patient and caring nature

Teaching Personnel can assist you with your DBS and EWC applications

The school have stated they are not looking for people with direct Teaching Assistant experience but are welcoming to those from alternative backgrounds where you have supported vulnerable adults or children in any capacity from professional, to voluntary or personal experience.

Trainee Teaching Assistant Overview:

  • Support students in KS3 and KS4 with Additional Learning Needs
  • Accompany students throughout school day and around the site
  • Read out work and breakdown questions set to the student
  • Manage challenging behaviours
  • Communicate and take direction as part of a team of support staff
  • Keep students focused on tasks
