Job description

Unqualified Teaching Assistant – Make a Real Difference in Fast-Paced Schools Across Greater Norwich

Are you motivated by challenge and driven to make a positive impact on young people’s lives? Do you thrive in energetic, demanding environments where strong character, confidence, and resilience really matter? If so, this could be the opportunity for you.

We are seeking committed, adaptable individuals to work as Unqualified Teaching Assistants in high-tempo, challenging school settings across Greater Norwich and the surrounding areas. These schools support pupils with a range of learning, social, and behavioural needs and require adults who bring excellent classroom management skills, a robust mindset, and a genuine can-do attitude every single day.

This is not a passive role. You will be working in dynamic classrooms where consistency, confidence, and calm authority are essential. Whether you come from education, childcare, youth work, care, or a behaviour-focused background, your ability to engage, motivate, and manage will be key to success.

Driving requirement: You must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle. The role involves travelling independently between schools, often at short notice, so reliability and flexibility are essential.

The Role

  • Supporting pupils with complex academic, emotional, and behavioural needs in fast-moving classroom environments.

  • Helping implement structured, personalised strategies to improve behaviour, engagement, and learning outcomes.

  • Assisting with core subjects including literacy and numeracy.

  • Managing challenging behaviour positively and consistently, using clear boundaries and calm communication.

  • Contributing to a structured, safe, and purposeful learning environment where students can succeed.

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Is confident working in high-pressure, high-energy school settings.

  • Has strong classroom presence and behaviour-management instincts.

  • Remains calm, resilient, and solution-focused when faced with challenges.

  • Shows initiative, flexibility, and a proactive, can-do approach.

  • Builds respectful, trusting relationships with students and staff.

Please note: A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential due to the nature of the placements and travel requirements.

What You’ll Receive:

  • Access to Teaching Personnel’s CPD Academy, offering training and accredited development opportunities.

  • Competitive weekly pay based on experience and performance.

  • Easy-to-use online systems for timesheets and communication.

  • Ongoing support and guidance from a dedicated consultant who understands the demands of the role.

If you’re resilient, proactive, and ready to step into challenging, high-tempo schools where your presence truly matters, apply now and begin a rewarding career supporting students across Greater Norwich and beyond.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
