Primary school Teaching Assistant – Flexible and long-term work available

Daily pay: 89.38

Role Type: Day-to-Day, Fully Flexible

Are you searching for a teaching role that gives you freedom, variety, and the chance to experience different school environments? Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting Primary Teachers Assistant to support schools across Cardiff with short- and long-term cover.

This position is ideal for teaching assistants who enjoy working with children on a 1:1 setting. That brings positive and is enthusiastic energy to a classroom. Ability to manage children with additional learning difficulties.

About the Role

In this position, you will be supporting a child with Additional Learning Needs, helping them access learning and feel confident within the school environment. You’ll work closely with teaching staff and the school’s SENCO to follow strategies that meet the child’s individual needs and promote their progress.

Main Duties

  • Deliver personalised, one-to-one support that meets the child’s academic, emotional, and social needs
  • Help the pupil engage with class activities and adapt tasks where necessary
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored support plans
  • Promote independence, positive behaviour, and self-esteem
  • Track progress and share observations with school staff and parents/carers
  • Assist the child during break times and any additional school activities when required

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children or a willingness to get fully involved and learn on the job
  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
  • The ability to build meaningful, trusting relationships with both pupils and staff
  • A positive mindset and commitment to inclusive practice
  • Awareness of ALN and support strategies (full training available)

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience in a school, nursery, or childcare setting

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
