Teaching Personnel is seeking enthusiastic, resilient and energetic individuals with a passion for sport, behaviour support and mentoring young people to work within a specialist secondary setting supporting learners in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

This role would be ideal for candidates with backgrounds in sports coaching, youth work, behaviour support, teaching assistance, mentoring, education, outdoor learning, military services, or community engagement.

The setting supports learners who may have experienced barriers to education, including:

✅ Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
✅ Challenging behaviours
✅ Trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)
✅ Difficulties with emotional regulation
✅ Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
✅ Low engagement with mainstream education
✅ Attendance challenges and educational disruption

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils within lessons and around the school environment
• Build positive and professional relationships with learners
• Assist in managing challenging behaviour using restorative approaches
• Encourage participation and engagement in education
• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and within small groups
• Work alongside teachers and behaviour specialists
• Promote positive wellbeing and emotional development
• Act as a positive role model both in and out of the classroom
• Maintain safeguarding and welfare standards at all times

What We're Looking For

✔ Experience working with young people, children or vulnerable individuals
✔ A passion for sport, coaching, mentoring or youth development
✔ Strong communication and relationship-building skills
✔ Resilience, patience and a positive attitude
✔ Ability to remain calm in challenging situations
✔ Experience supporting behaviour or additional needs is desirable
✔ Drivers and candidates with access to a vehicle are highly desirable due to the locations
