Teaching Assistant (SEN Support) – Cardiff CF5

Location: Cardiff CF5
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent (Starts Sept 2026)
Salary: £470 per week (PAYE, paid weekly)
Hours: Mon–Fri, 8:30am – 3:15pm

We are partnering with a vibrant, inclusive secondary school in Cardiff (CF5) to find a compassionate Full-Time Teaching Assistant to provide specialized support for a Key Stage 3 pupil. This isn’t just a support role; it’s an opportunity to become a pivotal figure in a young person’s educational journey, fostering confidence, independence, and academic success.

Your Role: Empowering Success

As the primary 1:1 support for this pupil, your day-to-day will involve:

  • Tailored Learning: Adapting lessons to help the pupil access the curriculum effectively.
  • Building Confidence: Encouraging independence and positive engagement in class.
  • Social Development: Facilitating positive peer relationships and social skills.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with teachers to implement personalized learning strategies.
  • Inclusion: Promoting a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for all.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals with experience in:

  • Sports coaching or youth leadership
  • Mentoring or youth work
  • Residential care or support work
  • Tutoring or classroom assistance
  • Volunteering in community programs or activity camps

You are:

  • Patient & Empathetic: Able to build trust with a young person facing challenges.
  • Adaptable: Ready to think on your feet and adjust to the pupil’s needs.
  • Reliable: Committed to consistency and attendance.
  • A Communicator: Capable of building strong relationships with staff, parents, and the pupil.

Requirements

  • Must be aged 18 or over.
  • DBS: Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
  • Registration: Hold (or be willing to obtain) Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration.
  • Safeguarding: Willing to complete Level 2 Safeguarding Training during onboarding.
  • References: Able to provide two professional references covering the last 24 months.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
