Trainee Teaching Assistants & Unqualified Teachers – Start Your Career in Education

Pay: £93/day (Teaching Assistant) | £120/day (Cover Supervisor)
Contract: Full-time or part-time, until end of academic year
Start date: 2nd September 2026

No teaching experience? No problem. We place you in Secondary schools across Cardiff and train you as you go — many of our Teaching Assistants progress into higher-paid Cover Supervisor roles within weeks.

Teaching Assistant — what you'll do

  • Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups
  • Help deliver lessons alongside the class teacher
  • Support pupils with SEN, behaviour or additional learning needs
  • Help create a positive, focused classroom environment

Cover Supervisor — what you'll do
(Training provided if progressing from a TA role)

  • Lead full classes during teacher absence
  • Deliver pre-prepared lessons with confidence
  • Manage behaviour using the school's systems
  • Keep pupils engaged and on-task
  • Feed back to teaching staff after lessons

Who this suits
Graduates, PGCE-considerers, career-changers, and anyone with experience in youth work, coaching, care, childcare, customer service, or existing TA roles. What matters most: a positive attitude, confidence with young people, good communication, and reliability.

You'll work in friendly, well-supported Secondary schools across Cardiff and Caerphilly with clear behaviour systems, welcoming staff teams, and genuine opportunities for long-term placements.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
