Position: Teaching Assistant (Primary)
Location: Sandbach, Cheshire
Start Date: Monday 13th April 2026
Contract: Full-time, until the end of the Summer term
Salary: Dependent on experience and qualifications
About the Role
A supportive and friendly primary school in Sandbach is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team from Monday 13th April through to the Summer holidays.
This full-time role involves working closely with class teachers to support pupils’ learning, development, and wellbeing across the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher in delivering high‑quality learning across the curriculum.
- Work with individual pupils, small groups, and whole-class settings as directed.
- Provide targeted support for pupils with additional learning needs or SEND.
- Help create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
- Assist with preparing resources and materials for daily lessons.
- Support children’s social, emotional, and behavioural development.
- Supervise pupils during transitions, playtimes, and other non-classroom activities.
- Offer support with assessments by observing and recording pupil progress.
- Uphold safeguarding, health & safety, and behaviour policies at all times.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and school leaders.
Requirements
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – desirable.
- Experience working in a primary school setting.
- Understanding of the national curriculum and effective support strategies.
- Strong communication, patience, and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to take initiative, adapt, and respond to the needs of the class.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
