Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are seeking a Teaching Assistant with experience working with children with ASC to join them for when schools re open (Predicted March 8th). 

The role:

This roles involves working with children with Autism who may also display challenging behaviour and other mental health needs. This role requires a committed, empathetic, enthusiastic and resilient teaching assistant with great communication skills that has experience working with children with behaviours that challenge. You will be able to engage children that have become disengaged from Education and encourage and offer them support and guidance. You will work as part of a dedicated and committed team that have a child-centred approach to learning in all they do. This can work around your personal circumstances, for example alongside your studies, another job or on a full-time basis.

The school:

This school has a specialist unit (Autism Resource Centre) designed to support up to 15 students with ASC who would otherwise find attending a mainstream secondary school too difficult to manage.

Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you will:

  • Have a minimum of 3 months RECENT experience in one relevant setting i.e. school, youth centre, sports coaching, residential setting, respite centre where you have supported children or young people with ASC
  • Have a child workforce enhanced DBS or be willing to apply for one
  • The ability to work on initiative and proactively
  • The desire to work with young people with special educational needs
  • Own transport is highly desirable or close links to public transport
  • Available Monday-Friday

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
