Teaching Personnel are working with a 'Good' school in the South of Sheffield, who are looking for someone to support across the school. The school is based near good tram links. We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who would be available on a full time basis, but could consider applications from part time staff members. 

The Role 

The school are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant who would be happy to support across the Key Stages. The school is currently undergoing some positive changes, updating their behaviour policy and taking on additional support. We are looking for a calm and patient individual, who is confident managing challenging behaviour. You may be expected to work on a 121 basis, or with small groups, both in and out of the classroom. As a Teaching Assistant, you will be expected to support the class teacher in core areas, such as Phonics, English and Maths. In the afternoons, you will deliver interventions or Nurture sessions to support the children that you work with - you may be expected to work with the class teacher to prepare these sessions for the child. 

Our ideal Teaching Assistant; 

  • Available on a full time basis 
  • Minimum of GCSE English and Maths (A-C) 
  • Good understanding of phonics - Jolly Phonics/Read Write Inc. 
  • Comfortable supporting across the Key Stages 
  • Able to work on a 121 basis or with small groups 
  • Confident managing challenging behaviour and using the school behaviour policy 
  • Additional experience/training such as Team Teach/Thrive/Nurture 
  • Experience working with ASC
