Job Title: English Teacher

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for an English Teacher to join a Secondary School in Tameside. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English Language and English Literature to students in Years 7 to 11, as well as contributing to the school’s extracurricular activities and supporting the broader school community.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons that cater to a diverse range of learning styles and abilities.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive schemes of work, ensuring alignment with the National Curriculum and the school’s assessment and reporting policies.
  • Assess, monitor, and track students’ progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to support their learning and development.
  • Contribute to the school’s extra-curricular activities, such as drama productions, reading clubs, and debating societies.
  • Support the pastoral care of students, promoting positive behaviour and fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, resources, and ideas to continually improve the quality of teaching and learning.
  • Attend relevant professional development opportunities to stay up to date with current educational research and pedagogical practices.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A relevant teaching qualification, such as a PGCE or QTS, and a degree in English Language, English Literature, or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching English at the secondary level, preferably within a comprehensive school setting.
  • A strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum for English, including the Key Stages 3 and 4 requirements.
  • A passion for teaching and a commitment to the holistic development of young people.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Competitive salary, in line with your Teacher Pay Scale, between £30,000 and £46,525 per annum.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
