Level 2 Teaching Assistant needed to work across Year 1 and 2

Improving Southampton Primary School

Are you looking to secure a long term, full-time position?

A Primary School in Southampton have reached out to Teaching Personnel in need of a Level 2 Support Assistant to work amongst Year 1 and Year 2 on a full time basis working Monday to Friday. In the mornings you are required to work with small groups of children in Year 1, delivering Phonic based interventions working with children who aren’t reaching their age related expectations. The school has requested that the practitioner must have phonics related expereince order to raise the children’s attainment successfully.  During the afternoon sessions, the role is to be a general class Teaching Assistant supporting the Class Teacher in Year 2 with the afternoon lessons, because of this the Head Teacher would prefer a Candidate with a good understanding of the National Curriculum and the confidence to work proactively.

This Church of England Primary School has a mixed catchment and is a mixed ability school. The Head Teacher said she is keen to continue to raise attainment throughout the School and is looking to employ a dedicated and hardworking staff member with a great work ethic. She has also stated the pupils behaviour is ‘Generally very good’ but ‘Like any school has its challenging days which we tackle head first’. The successful Practitioner must have good behaviour management and have a secure knowledge of current Behaviour Policies. 

The salary is based on a 6.5 hour position held in the mornings, Monday to Friday, and depending on experience, this could vary between £10.77 - £11.50 per hour.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
