Teaching Assistants – Primary & Secondary Schools
Teaching Personnel are recruiting Teaching Assistants and Cover Supervisors to work across a range of primary and secondary schools in Wigan from January. We are supporting schools with increased staffing requirements for the New Year and have a range of opportunities available to suit varying levels of experience and availability.
Roles are available on a day-to-day supply, short-term, long-term, full-time, part-time, temporary-to-permanent and permanent basis.
Roles Available
We are recruiting for the following roles across mainstream and SEN settings:
Primary Schools
- Teaching Assistants (EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2)
- One-to-one SEN Teaching Assistants
- Small group intervention support
- Behaviour and pastoral support roles
- Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) positions
Secondary Schools
- Teaching Assistants supporting across curriculum areas
- SEN Teaching Assistants
- Cover Supervisors (higher daily rates available)
- Learning Support Assistants and inclusion support roles
- Exam Invigilation
- Pastoral Support
Working Patterns

Pay, Training and Development
Teaching Personnel offer competitive daily rates of pay, with enhanced rates available for Cover Supervisor roles.
We also provide access to ongoing professional development, including:

- Team Teach (where required)
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant training opportunities
Clear progression routes are available into HLTA roles, SEN specialist positions and initial teacher training pathways.

We work in partnership with primary and secondary schools across Wigan and surrounding areas, including:

- Orrell and Pemberton
- Ashton-in-Makerfield
- Golborne and Tyldesley
Where possible, we aim to place educators local to their home.
Candidate Requirements

Previous school experience is advantageous but not essential. Candidates must demonstrate a genuine commitment to supporting children and young people and be reliable, adaptable and willing to learn.
All applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding checks in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), including an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
