Teaching Assistant
Job description
We are seeking compassionate, resilient Teaching Assistants to join a highly individualised alternative provision supporting children and young people who have struggled to thrive in mainstream education.
This is not a traditional classroom setting. Our provision is built around relationships first, emotional regulation, and meeting young people exactly where they are. Many of our pupils have experienced trauma, anxiety, school refusal, or social and emotional challenges — and our work focuses on rebuilding trust, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
Our approach
- Small group and 1:1 learning in calm, therapeutic environments
- A strong focus on wellbeing, emotional literacy, and self-regulation
- Trauma-informed, nurture-based practice
- Flexible, creative learning pathways tailored to each individual
- Close collaboration with families and professionals to support the whole child
The role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils academically, emotionally, and socially
- Help create a safe, predictable, and nurturing learning environment
- Model calm, consistent, and respectful interactions
- Encourage engagement through creativity, curiosity, and positive relationships
- Be part of a close-knit, reflective team that values supervision and support
We are looking for someone who:
- Is patient, empathetic, and emotionally intelligent
- Can remain calm and grounded in challenging situations
- Understands trauma-informed practice
- Values connection over compliance
- Has experience with SEND, SEMH, or alternative provision
Why join us?
- Meaningful work where your impact is felt every day
- Small settings where relationships truly matter
- A supportive team culture with ongoing training and development
- The chance to be part of a provision doing things differently — and for a reason
