Teaching Assistant – Specialist Schools

Location: Southampton and surrounding areas
Pay: £14.25–£14.75 per hour

Teaching Personnel are looking for caring, patient and dedicated individuals to work as Teaching Assistants across specialist schools in Southampton and the surrounding areas.

We welcome applications from people with backgrounds in support work, care, residential care, youth work, mental health support, social care, youth offending or youth detention/secure settings, as well as those with experience in education.

Previous school experience is not essential. Your experience supporting young people, managing challenging behaviour or working with individuals with additional needs can be highly transferable to specialist education.

The Role

You’ll support pupils with a range of SEND needs, helping them engage with learning, build confidence and develop independence.

You may support pupils with:

  • Autism (ASD) and ADHD

  • Learning and complex needs

  • SEMH needs

  • Communication and interaction difficulties

  • Behavioural needs

Responsibilities may include 1:1 and small-group support, classroom assistance, encouraging positive behaviour and building positive relationships with pupils.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
