Are you passionate about supporting young people and making a genuine difference in their lives?

Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistants to join specialist SEN and SEMH schools across the Forest area. These schools support students with a range of additional needs, including social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, and can present challenging behaviour on a daily basis.

This role is best suited to individuals who are confident, patient, and able to remain calm under pressure. While the work can be demanding, it is also incredibly rewarding, offering the opportunity to make a significant and lasting impact on the lives of young people.

With class sizes of no more than four students, you'll have the opportunity to provide meaningful, individualised support. Every classroom is supported by a Teacher and a dedicated Pastoral Team member, ensuring staff are well-supported throughout the school day.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support students with SEN and SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis
  • Assist students in managing their emotions and developing positive coping strategies
  • Support learners who may display challenging behaviour, helping them engage positively with education
  • Help deliver tailored learning activities and interventions
  • Build positive relationships that promote trust, confidence, and progress
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff to support student outcomes

What We're Looking For

We're looking for individuals who are:

  • Experienced in working with children or young people (essential)
  • Experienced in SEN and/or SEMH settings (highly desirable)
  • Comfortable supporting students who may display challenging behaviour
  • Resilient, reliable, and confident in managing difficult situations
  • Patient, empathetic, and committed to making a positive difference
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, and able to work effectively as part of a team

Why Join Teaching Personnel?

  • Competitive pay of £14.75 per hour
  • Weekly pay through Teaching Personnel
  • Access to free CPD training, including behaviour management and SEN courses
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated personal consultant
  • Opportunities for long-term and permanent roles
  • A rewarding career supporting young people who need it most

This is a full-time position, and consistency is key to helping students build trust, routine, and confidence.

If you have the resilience, dedication, and passion to support young people with additional needs and challenging behaviour, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today or contact Teaching Personnel to find out more.
