Job description

ALN Teaching Assistant – Secondary (Sporty Candidates Encouraged)

Swansea & West Wales
£14.25 per hour
⏰ 8:30am – 3:30pm | No weekends

Are you sporty, energetic, and passionate about supporting young people? We are currently recruiting ALN Teaching Assistants to work across secondary schools in Swansea and West Wales.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy being active, building strong relationships, and supporting pupils both inside and outside of the classroom—particularly those who respond well to a hands-on, engaging approach.


The Role:

  • Supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) in secondary school settings
  • Using sport, activity, and engagement to build trust and encourage participation
  • Assisting with behaviour management and emotional regulation
  • Working 1:1 or in small groups to support learning and development

Requirements:

  • A strong interest in working with young people, particularly in ALN or behaviour-focused settings
  • Confident, proactive, and willing to get involved in sports and physical activities
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

⭐ Desirable:

  • Experience working with children or young people (schools, coaching, youth work, care, etc.)
  • Background in sport, fitness, or coaching
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE, Sports Coaching, Psychology, Education)
  • Welsh-speaking (advantageous but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
