ALN Teaching Assistant – Swansea & West Wales

£14.25 per hour | 8:30am – 3:30pm | No Weekend Work

Are you passionate about supporting pupils with additional learning needs and making a real impact in the classroom?

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants with an interest or experience in ALN/SEN to work in schools across Swansea and West Wales. While many roles focus on ALN provision, there are also opportunities within mainstream classrooms, offering fantastic variety and experience.


‍ About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) on a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Assist in delivering tailored learning activities
  • Provide support with behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Work closely with teachers to create an inclusive learning environment
  • Adapt to both specialist ALN settings and mainstream classrooms

✅ Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above)
  • Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
  • EWC registration (or willingness to register)
  • A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach
  • Strong communication skills and a genuine interest in supporting young people

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting ALN/SEN such as ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia
  • Background in care, support work, coaching, or youth work
  • Previous school-based experience (TA or similar)
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or psychology
  • Aspiring teachers or those considering a PGCE

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
