Job description

Teaching Assistants – SEMH & 1:1 Support Roles

We are seeking dedicated, resilient and playful Teaching Assistants to join our supportive and nurturing school community. These roles are ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a real difference for children and young people with SEMH, ASD, trauma and attachment needs.

We have a range of class-based and 1:1 support roles available across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 3, supporting pupils with varying levels of need. Some pupils require support to re-engage with education following significant time out of school, while others need consistent, emotionally attuned support to thrive within the school environment.

About the roles

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, trauma and attachment needs
  • Working either within a class setting or 1:1, depending on the role
  • Helping pupils regulate emotions, build trust and access learning
  • Supporting integration into school routines and social environments
  • Working closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team

What we’re looking for

  • A resilient, calm and consistent approach
  • A playful, engaging style — ideally suited to active, hands-on support
  • The ability to build strong, trusting relationships
  • Confidence supporting pupils with high emotional and behavioural needs
  • Experience in a similar setting is essential (youth work, education, care of children)
  • A willingness to undertake training and ongoing professional development

What we offer

  • A supportive staff team and strong pastoral culture
  • Training and guidance to support you in role
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful impact on pupils’ lives
  • A rewarding role where no two days are the same

If you are patient, proactive and passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs, we would love to hear from you.
