Primary Teaching Assistant – Portsmouth (PO1)
Pay: £13.75 per hour
Contract: Full-time, Term-time only
Start Date: September 2025

Teaching Personnel are recruiting for a Primary Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Portsmouth (PO1) starting this September.

About the role:
You will work closely with the class teacher to support children’s learning, both in class and through small group work. Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils to complete their work and understand new topics

• Running small group sessions in key subjects like maths and reading

• Providing tailored support for pupils with additional needs

• Helping to prepare resources, displays, and teaching materials

• Encouraging a positive classroom atmosphere and promoting good behaviour

• Supporting school activities and events when required

What we’re looking for:

• Previous experience working with children, preferably in a school environment

• Strong communication skills and a positive attitude

• Patience, flexibility, and the ability to work as part of a team

• An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
