Teaching Personnel are recruiting a confident and proactive Teaching Assistant to support pupils with ALN/SEN and challenging behaviour in a specialist primary school environment within the NP19 area. This role is suited to someone who is emotionally resilient, calm under pressure and able to work consistently with pupils who require a high level of support.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who thrives in structured, high-support environments and is confident managing complex behaviours.

About the Role

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with ALN/SEN
• Support children who may present with challenging behaviour
• Use consistent behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques
• Help pupils regulate emotions and remain engaged in learning
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
• Work closely with teaching staff and specialist teams
• Maintain clear boundaries while offering a calm, supportive presence
• Be proactive in anticipating challenges and supporting pupils throughout the day

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience supporting children with ALN/SEN or challenging behaviour
• Comfortable working in high-support, fast-paced environments
• Calm, patient and emotionally resilient
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• Proactive, confident and able to use initiative
• Reliable and consistent in approach
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Experience may come from schools, care, youth work, residential, or similar settings.
