A Secondary pupil referral unit in South Manchester are looking for candidates to take on full-time teaching assistant roles. The school works with 11-16 year olds that are currently outside of mainstream schooling due to various social, emotional and mental health needs. They are currently working towards BTEC and GCSE qualifications in small groups, and require additional support in the classroom to help them with work and focusing on the tasks set by teachers.

In this role you will:

-          Work on either a 1:1 or small group basis to help students within class and adapt work to individual needs

-          Work with teachers to plan and execute lessons

-          Work with other members of staff to ensure that EHCPs are followed within the school and feedback is given on these

-          De-escalate possible challenging behaviour of students

For this role you should

-          Have previous experience working with secondary aged children

-          Be confident with challenging behaviour

-          Have knowledge of EHCPs and how these need to be followed within an education environment

-          Be available full-time

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
