Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Autism Support

Teaching Personnel are looking for a caring, reliable and committed Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream secondary school in Lymington, supporting students with Autism on a 1:1 basis.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with young people and wants to make a real difference to a student's day-to-day experience in school. You will provide individual support both in the classroom and around the school, helping the student to engage with learning, build confidence and develop their independence.
The school is looking for someone who is patient, approachable and able to build a strong rapport with students. You don't necessarily need previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, but you must have experience working with children or young people in some capacity, or previous experience within a school setting.
The role:
- Full-time, immediate start
- Providing 1:1 support to a student with Autism
- Supporting learning, engagement and independence
- Building a positive and trusting relationship with the student
- Working closely with teachers and the wider support team
- Helping to create a calm, positive and inclusive learning environment
- Potential for the role to become permanent for the right person
We are looking for:
- Previous experience working with children or young people, or experience within a school
- A patient, caring and supportive approach
- Someone who can build positive relationships with students
- Good communication skills
- Reliability and a genuine interest in supporting young people
- A willingness to learn and develop your understanding of Autism
