Level 3 Teaching Assistant – SEN Experience
Location: Across Durham (primarily DH1 2EY)

About the Role
Teaching Personnel are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Level 3 Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This full-time supply role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of primary schools in the Durham area, with a particular focus on settings in and around DH1.
You’ll have the flexibility to choose EYFS, KS1, or KS2 depending on your strengths, and can opt for morning, afternoon, or full-day assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality support to pupils with a range of SEN needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
- Deliver targeted interventions and 1:1 support, as well as small group work.
- Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive, engaging learning environment.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils to support their academic and emotional development.
- Adapt resources and strategies to meet individual needs.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents.
Requirements
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – essential
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN, ideally within a primary setting
- Confident working across EYFS–Year 6
- Strong communication, patience, and behaviour management skills
- A proactive and flexible approach to support
- Own transport desirable, allowing access to more school placements across Durham

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
