Looking to start a career in education?

This is a great opportunity for someone who is new to education or working towards a career in schools. This welcoming, values‑driven secondary school in Cwmbran is keen to support an unqualified Learning Assistant, with training and ongoing guidance provided.

The school has strong pastoral and inclusion systems in place and a supportive staff team who work collaboratively to ensure students — and staff — are given every opportunity to succeed. For the right person, this role has clear potential to extend and progress into a long‑term or permanent position.

The role: Unqualified Learning Assistant

You’ll be part of the school’s Learning Support Team, supporting pupils throughout the school day while developing your skills and confidence in a classroom environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils in lessons, helping them stay focused, confident, and engaged.
  • Working one‑to‑one or in small groups under the guidance of teachers.
  • Assisting with basic lesson preparation and learning resources.
  • Helping to maintain a positive, calm, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Working confidently with pupils who present ALN and challenging behaviour, helping them feel supported and understood.

No formal qualifications are required — just the right attitude, reliability, and a genuine interest in working with young people.
