SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School, Chichester

Location: Chichester, West Sussex
Contract: Permanent 
Hours: Full-time
Salary: £14.00 per hour 

About Us:
We are a warm, inclusive primary school located in the heart of Chichester, committed to providing a supportive learning environment where every child can thrive. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team and help us support pupils with Special Educational Needs.

The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and SENCO to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including learning difficulties, behavioral challenges, and physical disabilities. Your role will be vital in helping these children achieve their potential both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support individual or small groups of pupils with SEN inside and outside the classroom

  • Assist with the delivery of personalized learning plans and interventions

  • Encourage positive behavior and social interaction

  • Help with personal care, as required

  • Liaise with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support pupils’ development

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children with SEN in a school or educational setting

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children succeed

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team

  • Flexibility and a proactive approach to challenges

  • Relevant qualifications or willingness to undertake training (e.g., Level 2 or 3 SEN support)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
