Teaching Assistant– Full time
Location: Liskeard, Cornwall
Start Date: 14th September
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: Full time
We are currently looking for a caring and compassionate teaching assistant with experience delivering high-quality teaching, available in the Liskeard and greater Cornwall area, supporting schools within the St Barnabas Trust. You’ll be working 1-1 and in small groups, utilising different strategies to help engage and encourage students with a range of needs and ability levels. This job would be best suited to someone committed to creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that enables all pupils to achieve their full potential.
The Role
As a Teaching assistant, you will be responsible for:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN to help them access the curriculum.
- Assist teachers in planning and delivering differentiated learning activities.
- Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised learning strategies.
- Encourage positive behaviour and support pupils' social, emotional, and communication development.
- Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to meet pupils' individual needs.
- Support personal care and wellbeing requirements where necessary.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a Teaching assistant who:
- Has experience working in schools.
- Has a clear understanding of Safeguarding and keeping children safe in education.
- Is adaptable and comfortable working with different year groups, in different primary schools across the Cornwall area.
- Differentiate strategies to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities, including those with SEND needs.
- Is enthusiastic, reliable and committed to providing high-quality learning experiences.
- Can build strong, positive relationships with children aged 11-18
Working Hours
Weekdays 8:30am – 3:30pm

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
