Support Worker (Secondary School)
Location: Vales of Glamorgan – Penarth - CF64
Hours: Part-time, hours between Monday – Friday, 8am – 3pm
Start Date: February 2026
Pay: £90-£95 per day

We’re a Comprehensive School on the outskirts of Penarth which celebrates a specialism of subjects and encourages learners to explore all areas of learning. With over 1000 pupils between Years 7-13, we focus on ambition and inclusivity.
Our school holds an onsite Physical and Medical resource base that provides specialist support for pupils with physical needs within the mainstream secondary setting.
We are looking for a friendly and positive person to join our team, supporting young people with physical or medical needs to build relationships, offer practical support during the school day, and help pupils feel confident, included and able to enjoy their day to day at school.

How a day in our welcoming & supportive School would look like for you:

  • Encouraging pupils to take part in activities and to stay engaged.
  • Build relationships and offer support.
  • Working with teachers, SEN staff, and teams to create an environment that is inclusive, supportive, and safe.
  • Assist with physical support tasks, including helping students with wheelchairs, physio equipment, and other mobility aids.
  • Track and monitor progression, providing any valuable feedback to assist teachers in tailoring their lessons for each student’s needs.
  • Always ensuring that safeguarding procedures are followed, maintaining the highest standards of student welfare and safety.

What we are looking for:

  •  A proactive, flexible, and reliable approach.
  • Willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS certificate (if you don’t have one already!)
  • Manual Handling experience (preferred but not essential – training will be provided).
  • Patience, calmness, and the ability to adapt to different situations.
  • Commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children, with safeguarding policy awareness.
  • Communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Enthusiastic to learn and undertake training as necessary to support students with diverse physical and educational needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
