Salary: £13.75 an hour

Contract: Full Time

SEMH Teaching Assistant

If so, we have an excellent opportunity for an SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school and make a meaningful impact every day!

 

The Role:

You’ll play a key part in helping classroom teachers provide exceptional support to students across Primary and Secondary ages. The students at this school have primary diagnoses / additional needs of the following:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties
  • Trauma and Attachment Difficulties
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Complex Backgrounds

This role involves working closely with students who may experience anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, or other mental health challenges that impact their ability to learn.

You will help create a safe, supportive environment where students feel understood and valued, using strategies to promote emotional regulation, positive coping skills, and confidence.

Collaborating with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals, you will play a vital role in ensuring every child has the tools and encouragement to thrive both academically and personally.

 

Who We Are Looking For:

  • SEMH knowledge and experience
  • Understanding of Trauma-Informed Care
  • Understanding of positive behaviour support strategies
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to collaborate with teachers and other support staff
