Location: Plymouth and surrounding areas

Hours: Flexible, Monday to Friday, between 8:30am - 3:30pm
Contract: Daily Supply, Short-Term and Long-Term Opportunities Available
Salary: Competitive daily rate dependent on experience

About the Role

Due to growing demand from our partner schools, we are looking to recruit enthusiastic and reliable Supply Teaching Assistants to work across a variety of Primary, Secondary and SEN schools throughout Plymouth and the surrounding areas.

This is a flexible role ideal for individuals looking to fit work around other commitments while making a positive difference in the classroom. Successful candidates will support pupils with their learning, behaviour, and overall engagement throughout the school day.

Applicants must be comfortable with both pre-booked assignments and same-day morning bookings, as schools often require support at short notice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils on a one-to-one basis, in small groups, or within whole-class settings.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging learning activities.
  • Support students with varying learning abilities and additional needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and classroom engagement.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Provide support across Primary, Secondary, and SEN settings as required.
  • Follow school policies and procedures at all times.
  • Build positive relationships with students and staff.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Flexible approach and willingness to work across different schools and age groups.
  • Ability to be available between 8:30am and 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Willingness to accept both pre-arranged and same-day bookings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, adaptable and proactive attitude.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Ability to travel to schools across Plymouth and surrounding areas.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant.
  • Experience working within:
    • Primary Schools
    • Secondary Schools
    • SEN Schools
    • Alternative Provisions
  • Experience supporting pupils with:
    • Autism (ASD)
    • ADHD
    • SEMH
    • Learning Difficulties
    • Speech and Language Needs
  • Team Teach or other behaviour management training.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
