Job Title: Sporty Teaching Assistant – Primary School
Location: Rumney, Cardiff
Contract Type: Full-Time | Term-Time Only | Fixed-Term (with potential to extend)
Start Date: 1st September 2025

An energetic and inclusive primary school in Rumney, Cardiff is looking for a Sporty Teaching Assistant to support pupils across the school with both classroom learning and physical activity. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for sport and education who wants to encourage healthy, active lifestyles in young learners.
Whether you're experienced in education, youth work, or coaching, your enthusiasm and teamwork will help create a positive and engaging school experience for all pupils.
Key Responsibilities:

Support class teachers with day-to-day learning activities and classroom management.

Lead and assist with PE lessons, sports clubs, games, and outdoor learning sessions.

Engage children in physical activities that promote teamwork, resilience, and well-being.

Work 1:1 or with small groups to build confidence and develop social/emotional skills through sport.

Assist with classroom duties, behaviour support, and transitions throughout the day.

Contribute to school events, sports days, and enrichment opportunities.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
-
A passion for sport, movement, and active learning.
-
Experience working with children (in schools, coaching, youth work, or sports settings).
-
A positive, motivating presence with excellent communication skills.
-
The ability to encourage and engage pupils of all abilities and backgrounds.
-
A relevant qualification in sport, education, or child care is desirable.
-
An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
