Sports Coach 

Location: Rawtenstall
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:50am – 3:30pm
Pay: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour

We are seeking a dedicated, resilient Sports Coach / Teaching Assistant to join the KS4 department in a specialist SEN school in Rawtenstall.

This is a varied and rewarding role combining sports coaching with general Teaching Assistant support, working with pupils who have special educational needs and may display challenging behaviours.

The Role

  • Supporting KS4 pupils within a specialist SEN setting

  • Delivering and supporting sports and physical activities, often outside of the classroom

  • Supporting pupils when they are dysregulated, using physical activity and positive relationships to help regulate behaviour

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support in and out of the classroom

  • Assisting teachers with lesson delivery, classroom management and pupil engagement

  • Supporting pupils with their emotional, social and academic development

  • Working closely with teaching and pastoral staff to maintain a safe, structured and supportive environment

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with young people with SEN and/or challenging behaviour (desirable)

  • Background in sports coaching, PE, youth work, mentoring or education support

  • Calm, patient and confident when managing challenging situations

  • Flexible and willing to support both classroom learning and physical activities

  • Strong communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
