SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), Accrington
Hours: Full-time

We are currently recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant with a sports background to work on a full-time agency basis in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Accrington.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. A background in sports, coaching, mentoring, or youth work is highly desirable, as the role involves using positive relationships, resilience, and teamwork to engage and motivate students.
The Role:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
- Help manage behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students.
- Encourage participation, confidence, and personal development through engaging activities.
- Work closely with teachers and other professionals to support pupils' learning and wellbeing.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally within SEMH, SEND, youth work, or sports coaching.
- A positive, patient, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
- A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
