Job Title: Sports Coach (Additional Needs Base)
Location: Cardiff
Daily rate: £110 – £130 per day (dependent on experience)
Placement: Full-time, May 2026 – July 2027 (earlier start negotiable)
About the Role
A welcoming and supportive secondary school in Cardiff is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Sports Coach to join their team on a full-time basis. This rewarding role involves working within a specialist Additional Needs Base, supporting pupils aged 11–16 with a range of complex needs through sport, physical education, and active engagement.
You will deliver tailored PE lessons, promote physical wellbeing, and help pupils build confidence, coordination, and social skills in a safe and structured environment. The role also includes regular use of the school’s fitness suite and outdoor facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive PE and sports sessions for pupils with additional needs
- Adapt activities to support students with conditions such as Down Syndrome, ADHD, non-verbal communication needs, and other complex learning needs
- Safely support pupils in the fitness suite and during physical activities
- Build positive relationships and encourage participation, teamwork, and confidence
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams within the Additional Needs Base
- Supervise and support enrichment activities, including football club and outdoor play every Friday
- Use allocated timetable time effectively for lesson planning and preparation
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A background in sports coaching, physical education, or a related field
- Experience working with children or young people with additional needs
- A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage non-verbal pupils
- A passion for promoting inclusion through sport and physical activity
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
