Speech and Language Support Assistant / Intervention Specialist
Teaching Personnel – Teesside
Full‑Time | Temporary with potential for long‑term opportunities
Teaching Personnel is looking for a committed and compassionate Speech and Language Support Assistant to join secondary schools across the Teesside area. This position is perfect for individuals with experience in communication support, SEND, intervention delivery, or those aspiring to careers in speech and language therapy, SEN teaching, or educational psychology.
About the Role
As a Speech and Language Support Assistant, you will play a key role in helping students overcome barriers related to speech, language, and communication. Your responsibilities may include:
- Delivering targeted 1:1 and small‑group interventions
- Supporting pupils with speech delays, communication needs, processing difficulties, or challenges with social interaction
- Implementing tailored strategies developed by SENCOs or external Speech and Language Therapists
- Helping students access the curriculum and build confidence in their communication skills
- Using visual resources, structured communication aids, and specialist tools to support learning
- Tracking pupil progress and providing simple, clear feedback to teaching staff

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
