Specialist Music Teacher Position (SEN)

We are a specialist school with a part time music teaching requirement for January 2018. Our pupils have physical disabilities, complex medical issues and many have sensory impairments.

We have a well-equipped music room, with equipment ranging from sensory items such as shakers and tactile musical instruments, right through to state of the art technology, Soundbeams and mixing desk.

You will be responsible for planning sessions for all of the classes in the school, who visit the music room each week. Planning is done in collaboration with the class's teacher. There are typically 6 or 7 children in each session (age range 3 to 16 years), almost all supported 1:1 by a member of staff who knows them well, and can ensure that they can engage to the best of their ability in the sessions.

As a music teacher, you will be responsible for the education and well-being of pupils with physical disabilities, complex communication, sensory, medical and cognitive difficulties. We are particularly interested in applications from those with VI/HI/MSI and/or PMLD qualifications.
