Social, Emotional and Mental Health TA

Location: Preston
Hours: Full-Time
Contract: Agency

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant with a sports background to work on a full-time agency basis within a specialist SEMH setting in Preston. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. A background in sports coaching, mentoring, youth work, or team leadership would be highly beneficial, as the role involves using positive relationships, resilience, and teamwork to engage and motivate pupils.

The Role:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
• Support behaviour management using positive and restorative approaches
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
• Encourage confidence, participation, and personal development through engaging activities
• Support pupils both in and out of the classroom
• Work alongside teachers and support staff to promote learning and wellbeing

Requirements:

• Experience working with children or young people, ideally within SEMH, SEND, youth work, care, or sports coaching
• A positive, patient, and resilient attitude
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills
• A genuine passion for helping young people succeed
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
