Teaching Personnel is recruiting SEN learning support assistants for specialist schools across West Sussex that support pupils with severe learning difficulties (SLD) and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). These schools are incredible environments where every achievement, however small, is celebrated, and where the staff who work there are among the most skilled and dedicated in education.
We're looking for people who understand that education looks different for every pupil, and who bring creativity, warmth and professionalism to every interaction.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting pupils with severe or profound learning difficulties across all areas of daily school life.
- Assisting with personal care, communication support and sensory activities.
- Helping to deliver individualised learning programmes tailored to each pupil's needs.
- Working as part of a close, multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic support.
- Keeping accurate records of pupil progress and communicating effectively with families.
Who we're looking for:
- Experience working with pupils or adults with severe or complex learning difficulties.
- Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) is helpful.
- A compassionate, person-centred approach to care and support.
- Physical and emotional resilience, with a positive and professional attitude.
- Personal care experience is desirable but full training will be provided.
