Job description

Teaching Personnel is building a pool of exceptional support staff for specialist schools in Horsham that cater for pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), complex medical needs and severe physical disabilities.

This is a highly rewarding role for someone who wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with significant additional needs.

Typical responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with mobility, positioning and physical access
  • Assisting with personal care and hygiene routines
  • Working alongside therapists, nurses and specialist teachers
  • Using sensory-based learning approaches
  • Supporting communication through eye-gaze, switches and assistive technology
  • Promoting dignity, comfort and independence at all times

Essential qualities

  • Patience and emotional maturity
  • Confidence working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • A calm approach in complex situations
  • Physical confidence to support mobility needs (training provided)
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice

Experience with PMLD is advantageous but not essential; full training and ongoing support can be provided for the right candidate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
